East Penn Mfg., a world class leader in automotive battery manufacturing is expanding our service network and is currently seeking an Industrial Battery Service Technician in the Berks County & Lehigh Valley area. The Service Technician will communicate and work with maintenance managers, maintenance mechanics, electric truck mechanics, electricians, contractors, and East Penn Manufacturing's salespeople to provide service to customers within their Eastern Pennsylvania territory. You will be assigned a company service vehicle for use during work assignments and customer visits. The ideal candidate has a strong electrical background, a customer focused mindset, and is highly self-motivated.
Starting hourly wage between $24.00 - $26.00 or more depending on industry experience.
Pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
Responsible for the mechanical installation, maintenance and service of industrial batteries, chargers and battery charging equipment at the customer’s facility. Someone with excellent mechanical ability, general electrical knowledge and good customer service and communication skills is a good candidate.
Good driving record, able to read and understand numerous technical manuals, good writing skills, general math skills, strong mechanical skills, strong communication skills, strong electrical background from 120 volt 1 phase to 480 volt 3 phase, AC to DC rectification, able to read schematics, control circuits, basic electronics (A Must), component level to circuits, battery knowledge, able to take voltage and gravity readings, understanding how a lead acid battery works, burning, welding, soldering, knowledge of forklifts and pallet jacks, able to work alone, self-starter. Basic computer skills with experience windows based programs (Word, EXCEL). Job requires rare overnight trips. Must be able to climb and work on ladders, gantries, and cat walks. Must be able to bend, squat, and lift, move, and or slide up to 200 lb. battery cells approximately 25" high.
