Overview

Navitas Systems designs and manufactures lithium ion batteries, including its own custom battery management systems. In this position you will perform assembly-level electrical testing and validation of battery packs and associated electronics. This includes high-potential (Hipot) safety testing, PCU/BMS assembly functional testing, and charge and balance operations. This is a full-time position located in our Ann Arbor facility. This position requires the ability to read and follow work instructions, test procedures, and safety requirements. This position exists in a temperature-controlled environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform Hipot (high-potential) dielectric strength testing on battery packs and assemblies per applicable test procedures and safety requirements.
  • Perform PCU/BMS assembly functional testing, verifying proper electrical operation, communication, and performance prior to pack integration.
  • Perform charge and balance operations on battery packs, ensuring cells and modules meet specification before shipment or further testing.
  • Perform end-of-line (EOL) testing of battery packs to ensure proper performance before shipment to customers.
  • Work with production and test engineering on assembly issues; support Bauer test stand operations as needed.
  • Follow written test procedures and work instructions accurately; document results and flag any out-of-spec conditions.
  • Identify, record, and escalate test failures or anomalies to test engineering or supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area consistent with 5S standards and ESD practices.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on test process efficiency and quality.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical certification in electronics, electrical technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or electronics assembly/test environment.
  • Experience with battery or electronics assembly testing preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and follow written test procedures, work instructions, and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical measurements (voltage, current, resistance) using digital multimeters and test equipment.
  • Experience with or ability to learn Hipot testing equipment and safety protocols.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel for data entry and basic record keeping).
  • Experience with battery charge/balance equipment a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAN-based battery systems or BMS electronics a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow multi-step procedures accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with engineering and production staff.
