Overview

The Test Technician will be responsible for design validation, abuse, and performance testing of lithium battery cells, modules and packs for customized applications in the commercial and defense industries.  The Test Technician, as part of an integrated product development team will provide test feedback from concept design phase to product launch.

This position requires the ability to understand and execute test procedures in support of internal, customer, and government deliverables. 

Responsibilities

  • Execute functional, performance, and regulatory testing of battery cells, modules, packs, electronics, and software during product development.
  • Review and understand test procedures, collaborating with engineers to update as necessary
  • Work with test and product engineers to commission new equipment, create test scripts, collect data, contribute to test reports, and provide feedback as necessary
  • Create standard work instructions as required
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of test equipment and facilities
  • Support test facility cleanliness and organization goals
  • Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions. 
  • Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner
  • Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Minimum (Required) Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from college, trade school, or skilled trades program
  • Hands-on industrial/technical/laboratory work or hobbyist experience
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in battery cell, module, and/or pack level development or transportation powertrain testing 

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly, fabrication and hands-on skills
  • Familiarity with CAN communication protocols, including Vector
  • Experience with sensors, data acquisition and instrumentation
