Overview

East Penn Mfg., a world class leader in automotive battery manufacturing is expanding our service network and has an Industrial Battery Technician position open at our Mine Battery facility in Pulaski, VA.  This battery technician role involves tearing down or repairing industrial batteries.  The ideal candidate is highly motivated, works well independently, and has a customer focused mindset.  

 

Starting hourly wage of $24.86.

Pay is determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.

Responsibilities

  • The tearing down of scrap battery and proper packaging for shipment to East Penn.
  • Daily cleaning and following all work rules and safety procedures.
  • Employee must remove labels from batteries, reboost the batteries, check the voltage and specific gravity of the batteries.
  • Adjust acid and discharge batteries. If the battery passes the test, then cleans the battery.
  • Manually places batteries on skid.
  • Employee also has to learn to do various repairs to batteries.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Management.
  • Responsible for proper hygiene, housekeeping, and safety practices.
  • his position requires strict adherence to information security protocols when handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Employees must safeguard all personal, financial, and proprietary information in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations, ensuring data integrity and privacy at all times.

Qualifications

Good writing and organizational skills, general math skills, strong mechanical skills, battery knowledge, able to take voltage and gravity readings, understanding how a lead acid battery works, burning, welding, soldering, knowledge of forklifts and pallet jacks, able to work alone, self-starter.  Some electrical knowledge preferred, AC to DC rectification a plus.  Must be able to operate material handling equipment.
