Overview

East Penn is currently seeking a Corporate Manufacturing Purchasing Clerk who provides transactional purchasing, supplier follow-up, data management, and departmental administrative support to ensure accurate orders, on-time deliveries, and smooth procurement operations.

Responsibilities

Create, issue, and update purchase orders in accordance with established procedures and approvals.
• Monitor open orders, proactively follow up with suppliers on late or partial deliveries, and communicate status updates to internal stakeholders.
• Support direct material purchases within defined spend thresholds, ensuring timely processing of requisitions and PO releases.
• Maintain accurate information in the ERP or procurement system, including pricing, lead times, supplier details, etc.
• Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders, receipts, and invoices in coordination with suppliers and Accounts Payable.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for routine supplier inquiries, acknowledgments, and delivery confirmations.
• Assist in preparing purchasing and expediting reports, ensuring complete documentation of transactions and correspondence.
• Identify and recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency, data accuracy, and supplier performance visibility.

• Administrative and clerical support the Production and Purchasing Department.
• Create and update charts or reports in Word or Excel.
• First level support for expediting purchase orders and entering system data for updates.
• Prepares price comparisons.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

 

1-2 years experience in an accounting environment requiring excellent computer skills, data entry skills, math skills, and problem solving abilities. 

Education/Certification

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Purchasing function
  • Ability to analyze problems and formulate alternatives
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Dependable and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a team player with proven ability to work across functional areas
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate (when appropriate) to manage time efficiently and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
