Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Private Fleet Dispatcher to join our dynamic team.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and coordination of our private fleet operations. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that all deliveries are made efficiently and in a timely manner while maintaining the highest standards of service and safety. As a dispatcher, you will interact closely with drivers, customers, and other operational teams to facilitate smooth logistics. You will be expected to handle real-time challenges, find solutions to transportation issues, and ensure compliance with all regulations and company policies. Your efforts will directly impact our service quality and customer satisfaction. This position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses excellent communication and organizational skills. You will utilize various routing and scheduling tools to optimize processes, reduce costs, and improve overall effectiveness in fleet management. Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate all activities related to fleet operations and logistics planning.
  • Schedule and assign drivers to specific routes based on availability and workload.
  • Monitor and track the location and status of vehicles and deliveries in real-time.
  • Communicate with drivers to provide updates and resolve any issues that may arise during transport.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding transportation and safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, driver schedules, and vehicle maintenance logs.
  • Develop efficient routing plans to minimize costs and maximize delivery efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Flexible working hours.
  • Experience that includes extensive knowledge of industry procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of transportation procedures
  • Experience using Supply Planning ERP software
  • Background with Hazmat and DOT Hours of Service regulations
  • Hands-on experience preferred with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), especially Descartes System Group

Education/Certification

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess issues and escalate appropriately for resolution
  • Strong geographical knowledge of North America
  • Strong understanding of DOT HOS regulations
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in multi-tasking, prioritizing and managing time effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Open to coaching with the ability to apply feedback
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills: a team player with proven ability to work across functional areas and all levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic, systems-based working environment
