Overview

East Penn is currently seeking a Distribution Center Manager for the Temple, TX warehouse.  This position reports into the Director of DC Operations and will have the autonomy to make decisions that improve productivity, reduce costs, oversight of safety initiatives, and be responsible for the overall continuous improvement and operational effectiveness.  The Temple warehouse is 100,000 sq. ft. and responsible for 125 employees, and 6 million outbound units per year.

Responsibilities

 

Set clear goals & expectations for facility (clearly describes what ‘good’ & ‘great’ look like and secure agreement from others)

Establish link between daily activities and long term strategies so all employees understand how what they do impacts the top & bottom line

Establish & monitor warehouse metrics to support facility, division and corporate goals

Regularly monitor progress & review performance with employees (target, stretch goal & results)

Hold employees accountable for their work performance, behavior & achieving their goals

Build and maintain a productive, well-educated work team by …

    • actively participating in all aspects of staffing planning, recruiting, hiring & training
    • developing & motivating employees through on-going coaching & feedback

Plan long-range needs based on sales forecasts & input from management

Maintain the proper staffing level to run the distribution center effectively and efficiently

Recommend promotions, wage increases and progressive disciplinary action, up to and including termination, as warranted.

Oversee job assignments, work schedules & overtime decisions, ensuring all service commitments are met

Ensure facility employees are actively and productively engaged in their assigned work tasks.

Ensure work instructions are in place, up to date & consistently being followed for each job.

Communicate and enforce company Code of Conduct and Personnel policies in conjunction with facility supervisors and the assistance of the  Personnel department as appropriate

Qualifications

Education – Bachelor’s Degree or demonstrated experience successfully running a DC

 

Experience

 

Minimum of 5 years in a management or supervisory role

Minimum of 3 years in a warehouse/distribution environment
