East Penn is currently seeking a Safety Specialist who will work to prevent workplace accidents, promote health and safety awareness and education to fellow employees. Will also ensure the workplace is in compliance with relevant OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulationsas well as ensure that periodic audits are conducted.
Update and/or maintain Safety programs/procedures and practices that establish controls to minimize and/or eliminate employee exposure.
Support management and employee initiatives to promote continuous improvement in Safety performance and accident prevention.
Aid in oversight of key focus areas such as:
New Hires - Injury prevention and reduction efforts such as New Hire Observations
Hand & Finger Injury prevention efforts
Coordination of Safety Board Activities
Support applicable ISO 45001 Implementation and system maintenance
Active participation in Safety Committee activities, providing guidance and resource
Responsible for communication with front line Management (Supervisors) & employees to enhance understanding of regulatory safety programs/ policies/procedures (LO/TO, MH, Machine Guard, Confined Space, etc.)
Involvement in Safety Program auditing for effectiveness to develop strategies for continued improvement, while maintaining established timeline and quality goals
Accident prevention, focus on root cause analysis to reduce risk. Recommend controls, corrective action and implement upon approval. Promote a safer work environment
Take the necessary measures to identify potential workplace hazards and improve existing conditions. Ability to assess potential hazards and act safely and quickly in the event of an incident
Conducting training activities including but not limited to:
Training of New Safety Technicians
Employee training such as New Hire training (backup to Training Coordinator)
Specialty training such as Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Material Handling etc.
Training activities will occur on various shifts
Provide additional technical and administrative support to the Environmental Health and Safety group as necessary.

Performs other duties as requested
Responsible for producing a high quality product
Responsible for proper hygiene, housekeeping, and safety practices
