Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our dynamic team at East Penn Manufacturing. This role is crucial for ensuring that our organization efficiently sources products and materials for our Maintenance and Repair Operation and maintaining a seamless supply chain and optimizing our inventory management processes. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for identifying potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and placing orders to meet operational needs. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of market trends and pricing, alongside excellent communication, and negotiation skills. In this position, you will collaborate closely with various departments to forecast demand and ensure timely delivery of goods. You will also evaluate supplier performance and stay updated on industry developments to secure the best possible partnerships. Responsibilities

  • Research and identify potential suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers.
  • Manage and place orders for products and materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure availability of goods.
  • Evaluate and assess supplier performance regularly.
  • Collaborate with other departments to forecast purchasing needs.
  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other financial information.
  • Experience with inventory/maintenance management software.
  • Participate in project planning meetings as required.

 

Qualifications

The qualified candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills, business math skills,  be well organized,  have personal computer skills demonstrating competency in interacting between several programs and screens simultaneously and have basic mechanical knowledge.  Must have 2-3 years purchasing background with strong understanding of Business Costing/Economics.
