Overview

East Penn is currently seeking a Transportation Freight Representative to work 1st (7a-3:30p) shift in Alburtis, PA.  The Freight Representative coordinates and oversees the shipment of all products, materials, and supplies. The Freight Representative is responsible for collaborating and communicating with logistics teams, customer service representatives, contracted carriers, and any others involved in the shipment or receipt of products. This position supports the business through tracking, tracing, and updating the status of outgoing shipments relative to customer service expectations and internal goals.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently utilize the Transportation Management System (TMS) to ensure loads ship timely and as expected
  • Tender shipments via TMS, or manually, if necessary, to proper contracted carriers ensuring the established route guides are adhered to
  • When route guides are not available, choose best carrier for the shipment adhering to best service at lowest landed cost
  • Coordinate with numerous internal and external teams to facilitate on-time shipping and receiving
  • Administer expedited loads as needed to support customer service plans
  • Proficiently use web-based logistics portals for customers and carriers as needed or directed
  • Set and manage daily warehouse appointments in the Yard Smart system
  • Consolidate and build LTL loads and communicate needs, volumes and service expectations to local LTL terminals
  • Execute export shipments supporting our global business
  • Plan Original Equipment customer shipments under strict guidelines and requirements with zero defect expectations
  • Create bills of lading and other necessary shipping documents accurately and deliver them to necessary parties
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with contracted carriers in support of East Penn business
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with Customers and Carriers

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of 1-year previous work experience in a fast-paced office environment 

 

Preferred:

  • Prior work experience in Transportation and/or freight environment; knowledge of Transportation procedures
  • East Penn work experience that includes extensive knowledge of EP procedures and practices
  • Experience using TMS and web based portals for entering or tracking data

 

 

Education/Certification

 

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree or higher in related field is a plus
