Overview

East Penn is currently seeking an Accounting Manager who will serve as a key support role within the Finance department and to assist Management in maintaining proper controls and providing information to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

Financial Statement Reporting

                Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements

Analyze and review monthly financial statements

Assist with account variance analysis requested by management

Review and record monthly payroll entry as well as journal entries related to interest rate and

commodity hedges

 

General Accounting

Monitor monthly account reconciliation progress and follow up with responsible parties to ensure completeness and accuracy

Obtain and review quarterly Revenue Recognition data and prepare adjusting entry for quarterly consolidation

Assist with the preparation and distribution of data to support the quarterly consolidation process

 

Inventory Management

Perform a high level review of monthly costed inventory provided by the Cost Accounting department

Review monthly reconciliation of costed inventory to budgeted/expected inventory

Obtain, review, and record adjustments to the repair parts inventory as well as the obsolescence report from the Cost Accounting department and analyze for completeness and accuracy

Prepare and analyze monthly outside battery purchase report to account for Inventory in Transit

 

Analysis

                Various account reconciliations as requested

Review internal reporting generated by the Finance/Accounting Departments including but not limited to Proforma P&L’s by division and location

 

Year End Audit

                Coordinate and manage documentation requests

                Facilitate the collection and production of information within necessary departments

Maintain and Manage the communication with external auditors and participate in weekly status calls

                Review Year End Audited Financial Reporting Package for accuracy and completeness

 

Project Management

                Identify areas in which processes can be improved and implement

Support Non-financial managers with financial calculations

                Represent Finance Dept on certain projects

                Assist with IT/Accounting Initiatives

 

Other

                Assist in supporting and maintaining G/L structure

                Other Accounting / Finance duties as requested by management

                Monitor and implement accounting changes to comply with new pronouncements per US GAAP

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in Accounting/Finance

 

Education/Certification

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required
  • CPA, preferred

 

Skills & Competencies

 

Required:

  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of Accounting Systems
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and resolve issues or escalate appropriately for resolution
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • A team player with proven ability to work across functional areas and all levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of Project Management practices and tools to lead projects
