Casts refined lead into bars or blocks by connecting pipes from a pump to a starwheel or pouring ladle. Removes dross
from molds after pouring, then stacks lead and delivers to storage area.
Rotates daily between two jobs: Reverb Furnace Tapping and Reverb Furnace Charging.
Controls flow of metal into starwheel and pours lead into molds.
Installs and changes stamps identifying lot number on pigs.
Checks appearance of pigs, cleans of any flashing, and returns sub‑standard pigs to kettle.
Checks and maintains temperature of lead.
Moves pigs to storage area using a forklift.
REVERB FURNACE TAPPING
Opens lead well to tap lead from furnace into kettles.
Measures height of lead in kettle and diverts flow to another kettle when full.
Puts empty slag molds onto slag handling tap system.
Taps slag into molds.
Moves molds to cool with hydraulic pusher.
Picks up coldest mold with forklift and puts into slag dumper.
Dumps slag into material storage room.
Monitors operation of the furnace burners including air, gas, oxygen, and water flow.
Maintains accurate records and logs.
Keeps work area neat and orderly.
REVERB FURNACE CHARGING
Operates and monitors automated weighing system to ensure that the proper weights of materials are delivered to the reverb
Visually checks system to ensure that it is operating properly.
Monitors hydraulic levels, operating temperatures, flow rate, and other equipment and system parameters via operating
panels and computer supervisory system.
Monitors levels of materials in feed bin.
Notifies shift foreperson if more material is required.
Interacts with loader operators to ensure furnace feed hoppers remain full and proper materials are being charged.
Monitors furnace ventilation system via closed circuit tv to ensure adequate draft is maintained on furnace at all times.

*Ability to work mandatory over time.
Performs other duties as requested by Management.
