Overview

East Penn is currently seeking a Project Portfolio Manager who will oversee the Logistics Division. 

The Project Portfolio Manager oversees the Logistics Division project list(s) ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within scope and budget, and follow East Penn’s project management cadence and best practices. The Project Portfolio Manager is responsible for their own assigned projects, as well as projects assigned to others within the department/division. The Project Portfolio Manager assists in the development of team members that lead projects by coaching and mentoring using East Penn’s PM tools and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the portfolio of initiatives and projects within the department/division, tracking active project lists and monitoring status of initiatives/projects within a department or division
  • Collaborates with Department/Division leadership to define priorities, scope and requirements ensuring each project meets business needs
  • Prepares reports for Project Steering Committee/Stakeholders regarding status of projects
  • Works in partnership with Department/Division leadership, sponsors and steering teams to support projects for successful delivery
  • Provides department members with coaching and mentoring on East Penn’s project management tools and processes
  • Collaborates with the PMO and other division/department Portfolio Project Managers on process improvements and ensures that processes, tools, templates, and standards are consistent across the organization
  • Leads own assigned projects to completion utilizing appropriate planning tools and effective organizational project management processes
  • Develops detailed project plan and schedule, refining as needed, to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and produce desired results
  • Uncovers project risks and defines strategies to address
  • Cultivates a productive environment by communicating project goals and objectives, team members’ roles and responsibilities, and clarifying process
  • Works creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Facilitates regular project team meetings
  • Ensures effective hand-offs between team members
  • Records scope changes and monitors progress to the plan
  • Identifies and removes roadblocks by providing feedback, encouragement, and advice
  • Escalates appropriate issues for resolution
  • Other duties as required

 

 

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a supervisory, management or senior professional level role, with at least 2-3 years of experience with planning, management and delivery of successful programs and projects
  • Proficient in MS Project or other Project & Portfolio Management tool
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, preferred

 

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred; equivalent level of education, training and experience may be considered 

 

Skills & Competencies

 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in logistics and supply chain preferred (but not required) 
  • Working knowledge of project management tools, methods and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation abilities
  • Demonstrated capability to lead teams in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess issues and escalate appropriately for resolution
  • Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas in order to achieve a common business objective
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; a team player with proven ability to work across functional areas and all levels of the organization
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven ability to influence, motivate, and lead project team members to deliver projects successfully
  • Is unafraid to respectfully challenge the status quo by providing new ideas and solutions
  • Financial acumen including budget development and management
  • Ability to effectively coach and mentor staff members
